Invacare XPO2: Portable Oxygen Concentrator

The first release date for the 6 lb Invacare XPO2 was early autumn 2007. The release was then pushed back to January 2008. The FDA then wanted some changes made followed by more trials and the release was moved again until June 2008. Now Invacare is expecting to release the XPO2 in March 2008.
Confused? Who isn’t?
The XPO2 fits a niche that is under servered. This unit is light enough for most anyone to carry. The SeQual Eclipse is too heavy for all but the strongest persons to carry. The Inogen One and Respironics EverGo are smaller units but too heavy for most females to carry. These three are usually relegated to the telescoping handled carts they come with.
The XPO2 is a pulse-dose concentrator with settings up to 5 liters per minute. The battery gives about 2.5 hours of use before recharging. A supplemental battery is available which will give an additional 2.5 hours of use (total of 5 hours). The unit will be packaged with a case, cart and AC/DC power.
Pricing will be inline with the rest of the industry offerings. I would expect the XPO2 to range anywhere from $3500 to $4500, depending on configuration. Durability shoud be outstanding as Invacare has always used high quality components.
Invacare produces high quality concentrators and the XPO2 should be an excellent addition to their lineup.
